Faith and community leaders gathered together on the steps of a cathedral

A national civic and policy institution for the 21st century

Hear from each other, not about each other.

The Centre for Cultural Relations is a safe, serious platform where communities, institutions and government meet, listen and work together, without anyone having to compromise who they are.

Patronage and public trust

A vision rooted in faith, knowledge and shared Australian belonging.

Under the patronage of Dr Ibrahim Abu Mohamed, Grand Mufti of Australia, the Centre for Cultural Relations is being developed as an institution for dialogue, research and civic cooperation.

His patronage gives CCR a point of trust from which to engage communities, public institutions and international partners. CCR is the institution implementing his vision of peace, dialogue, collaboration and social cohesion.

The case for CCR

Building trust in a diverse Australia

The challenge is to build the relationships and institutions that allow diversity to become shared capability.

More than 300 languages are spoken across Australia. Generations of migration have brought knowledge, enterprise and cultural life from every part of the world. But diversity and coexistence have to be maintained and built deliberately.

Belonging grows when people can meet, learn, disagree safely and work together. CCR connects community experience with research, education, mediation and public policy, helping institutions respond to social tension before it becomes deeper division.

The institution

Australia-wide. Intercultural. Interfaith.

CCR works at the intersection of scholarship, policy and community leadership, turning vision, evidence and trusted relationships into practical public value. It is non-partisan and open to people of all faiths and backgrounds.

01

02

Dialogue

03

Mediation

Develop professional, culturally informed ways to prevent and resolve conflict.

04

Collaboration

Turn relationships into practical programs, partnerships and shared capability.

A platform for collaboration

Not another event. A place to connect.

Many people who should be talking have never spoken to each other. CCR exists to be the safe space where they can, and keep talking after the event is over.

People come as they are. No one is asked to hide their values or beliefs to belong. The aim is not agreement on everything, but enough shared understanding to live and work together without seeing each other as threats.

Partnership

Partnership is how the institution grows

CCR’s work is built through relationships rather than one organisation working alone. Its partners include religious leadership networks, universities, government, interfaith and community partners, and international institutions.

The working investment model

A staged path from vision to capacity

The long-term vision is a permanent institution with physical infrastructure, professional capacity, financial resilience and international reach, backed by a $32 million capital and operating pathway over ten years. The immediate task is to establish the operating base for the next growth stage.
